More Adverts During Tv Films Watchdog Rules

Broadcasting regulator Ofcom is to allow more advertisements to be shown during films screened on television.

Current rules stipulate that commercials should not be shown more than once ever 45 minutes but audiences could see their viewing disrupted on a half-hourly basis.

Following a review of advertising regulation, a new code will be introduced on September 1st.

Changes included the scrapping of a rule that stipulated a 20-minute interval between advertising breaks within programmes.

The regulation has been abandoned as the scheduling of adverts close to the beginning and end of programming had been found to irritate audiences.

And there has also been a cut to restrictions on advertising breaks in documentaries, current affairs, and programmes about religion.

However, the changes do not affect the amount of advertising broadcasters are permitted to screen, which remains at a maximum of 12 minutes per hour.

"Many stakeholder groups, including viewers, broadcasters, advertising agencies and advertisers, have expressed opposition to the suggestion of more advertising," an Ofcom statement added.

"Ofcom recognises this and will ensure a full and open consultation on this issue to give everyone an opportunity to respond in the coming months."

Phil Collins - Collins To Collaborate With Akon Pharrell Williams

Legendary singer PHIL COLLINS is considering giving his music a modern twist by collaborating with hip-hop stars AKON and PHARRELL WILLIAMS.

The musician admits he is "flattered" to hear the duo is keen to work with him and is equally surprised they are fans of his music.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I'm flattered that they've expressed the interest publicly, risking their careers in doing so.

"Anything is possible and I certainly would investigate doing that if I did think about doing something."

It's not the first time the Collins' original material has been reworked by R+B heavyweights - Brandy, L'il Kim and Kelis sang updated versions of Collin's hits on 2001's Urban Renewal LP.

Willoughby defends her TV wardrobe

Television presenter Holly Willoughby has defended her wardrobe for the reality show 'Dancing on Ice' after criticism from viewers.
According to reports, members of the public have complained that the presenter's dresses are too revealing.
Responding to the complaints on ITV show 'Loose Women', Willoughby said: "It's just the weirdest thing that has ever happened - like I've been living in someone else's world the last two weeks."
"My body dictates that it suits certain things, so I always wear the same style of dress. Unfortunately those are the things that get attention. It would be nice if the publicity was, 'Isn't she good at her job?'."
She also told The Mirror: "I can't believe the stir it caused. I like to wear feminine clothes and I've had people coming up to me in the street saying how much they liked it."
